With shared office space in Birmingham, London, Nottingham, Bristol, Exeter, Warrington, Cardiff and Yorkshire we welcome applications from across these regions.
Amey Consulting is a strategic delivery partner in the UK’s transition to electric mobility, offering a fully managed Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure (EVCI) solution that spans demand modelling, feasibility, design, and deployment. Our consulting services support local authorities, regional bodies, and private sector clients in developing equitable, accessible, and future-proofed EV charging networks. We provide data-driven site selection, grid capacity analysis, and strategic planning aligned with national decarbonisation goals.
Our work includes detailed feasibility studies, electrical and civil design, and programme management across frameworks such as LEVI, SPaTS2, and bespoke local authority commissions.
Our Local Authority business is at the forefront of electric vehicle infrastructure planning and delivery. We provide expert resource for EVCP demand modelling, feasibility assessments, and detailed design across a wide range of public sector clients. Our work includes strategic site selection, grid capacity analysis, and scalable design solutions that support local authorities in achieving their decarbonisation and transport goals.
We strongly encourage the development towards a professional qualification with a recognised Institution and pride ourselves on mentoring engineers. We offer tailored support towards professional accreditation (IEng/CEng), and you will be rewarded with a bonus of up to £5k on completion.
The role ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will work collaboratively within our EV design team to deliver innovative and future-proofed electric vehicle charging infrastructure. You will contribute to shaping the UK’s sustainable transport network by supporting clients such as National Highways, Local Authorities, and private sector partners with high-impact EVCP design solutions.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead or support aspects of EVCP design across various stages of delivery.
- Site surveys and inspections to assess suitability and constraints.
- Feasibility studies and technical reporting to inform design decisions.
- Planning, programming, and cost estimation for EVCP infrastructure projects.
- Design production in line with UK electrical regulations and EV-specific standards.
- Creation and management of design schedules to ensure timely delivery.
- Review and quality assurance of design drawings and technical documentation.
- Mentoring and support for Graduate Engineers and Technicians within the EV design team.
- Ensure timely delivery of EV charge point designs, meeting programme milestones and exceeding client expectations.
- Promote innovation and best practice in EV infrastructure design, adopting modern technologies and approaches where appropriate.
- Champion health and safety throughout all stages of design and delivery, ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 and other relevant regulations.
- Practical understanding of BS7671: IET Wiring Regulations (18th Edition) and/or the City & Guilds 2921-34 qualification for EV charging installations.
- Experience working with Local Authority and Distribution Network Operator (DNO) requirements, including grid connection protocols and site feasibility.
- Sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and CDM 2015 (Construction Design and Management Regulations).
- Progress towards professional accreditation with a recognised engineering institution (e.g. IET, ICE, or similar).
