About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a Commissioning Engineer – Mechanical to join a high-profile nuclear project role involves overseeing the mechanical commissioning aspects of the encapsulation process for nuclear waste. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a critical infrastructure project that directly contributes to the safe and secure management of nuclear materials in the UK.
You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all mechanical commissioning activities are conducted in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner, in alignment with industry regulations and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Championing a Zero Harm safety culture and ensuring compliance with all nuclear, radiological, conventional, and environmental safety standards
- Conducting mechanical testing and commissioning activities across all project stages
- Assisting in the preparation and execution of test documentation, FOBs (Findings of Benefit), and Technical Queries (TQs)
- Performing mechanical tests for witnessing by third parties
- Applying and removing Temporary Commissioning Aids (TCAs) as required
- Accurately recording supporting data in line with test procedures
- Using completions management systems to track and manage commissioning tasks
- Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with the project schedule
- Participating in multi-discipline design reviews and working closely with the engineering team
- Time-served or equivalent qualification in a mechanical or piping engineering discipline
- Ideally qualified to ONC level or actively working towards this (or equivalent)
- Proven project commissioning experience in a similar environment
- IOSH Working Safely certification (or equivalent)
- Valid and relevant trade card
- Strong understanding of nuclear safety protocols and systems
