Senior Planner - Civils
Location:
SL2B (with travel to Parklane and other project sites as required)
Rate: £500 per day
IR35 Status:
Inside IR35

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Planner (Civils) to support the planning and delivery of large-scale civil engineering and construction projects. The successful candidate will be capable of working independently while also collaborating closely with site teams, designers, and stakeholders to develop, maintain, and communicate high-quality programmes in complex environments.
You will play a key role in producing, managing, and updating master programmes, ensuring that schedules are robust, realistic, and aligned with project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, manage, and maintain integrated project programmes across civil engineering works.
Produce high-quality baseline, target, and update programmes using industry-standard planning software.
Lead collaborative planning workshops and interface planning sessions with internal and external stakeholders.
Review contractor and subcontractor programmes for compliance, logic, and constructability.
Monitor progress against programme, identify risks, and propose mitigation strategies.
Apply relevant planning workflows and tools to ensure accurate and timely updates of master programmes.
Support the preparation of look-ahead schedules, phasing plans, and sequencing strategies.
Provide programme input to change control, claims, and risk management processes.
Liaise with site teams to ensure programmes reflect actual site conditions and methodologies.
Skills & Experience
Significant experience in planning large-scale civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
Strong knowledge of civil engineering construction methods (ideally supported by previous site experience).
Proven experience in collaborative planning and interface management.
Strong understanding of planning best practice, critical path analysis, and programme controls.
Proficient in planning software such as Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
Ability to work autonomously and make sound planning judgements.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to present clear, well-structured programmes.
Desirable
Experience working in complex, multi-interface environments.
Familiarity with NEC or similar forms of contract.
Background in major infrastructure, highways, utilities, or heavy civils projects
