Job DescriptionReporting to the Water Cost and Commercial Lead for the UK, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will deliver work with water companies or the Environment Agency in the Midlands area, with opportunities to work in consultancy roles in the North West of England and prospects for progression across the UK water, environment, and nuclear sectors.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will have knowledge and experience in pre‑ and post‑contract management in NEC 3 or NEC 4 ECC and procurement within the UK water, environment, or nuclear sector. You will utilise your major project experience and knowledge to drive efficiencies and effective supply‑chain engagement and contract management.
You will also have experience working with Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and/or Early Subcontractor Involvement (ESI) in design and build major capital programmes.

- NEC 3/4 Option A, Option C, Option E ECC contract management and administration client side
- Budget control
- Payment valuation and assisting the PM in payment certification
- Actual cost forecasting and Defined Cost determination
- Establishing and maintaining productive and collaborative relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure appropriate commercial records are maintained in line with the contract requirements and oversee any contractual issues
- Feasibility studies and cost planning (pre‑contract)
- Preparation of tender documentation (pre‑contract)
- Evaluation of tenders (pre‑contract)
- Risk management (pre‑contract)
- Management and administration of construction contracts, ensuring compliance with contract terms (post‑contract)
- Cost control and valuation (post‑contract)
- Evaluation and negotiation of change orders or variations (post‑contract)
- Claims and dispute resolution (post‑contract)
- Final accounts and post‑project evaluation (post‑contract)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying
- Full membership of a chartered body such as RICS or a substantively progressed route on an approved APC pathway
- A wealth of experience postgraduate in Rail, Nuclear, Water and/or Environment
- Line management and recruitment experience of Quantity Surveyors or Assistant Quantity Surveyors
- CDM regulation knowledge and experience
- Risk management experience
- Valid CSCS card, with Water Hygiene Card desirable
- Main contractor and/or joint venture experience working client side
- Site presence and co‑location minimum 3 days a week
- Experienced user of the NEC 3‑4 suite of contracts (A‑C‑E must have)
