Réalis Transportation Project Delivery Practice (PDP) is the centre of excellence for the delivery of major transportation infrastructure projects, combining the best in project management and design management to provide a full suite of services to clients in the public and private sectors.

The team delivers design services across Rail and Transit, Highways, Local Transport and extends into Defence and Nuclear. Our client base includes HS2, National Highways, Network Rail, Irish Rail, Local Authorities and several Principal Contractors. We have an exciting vacancy within the PDP Rail and Transit team for an enthusiastic, confident Project Manager who will take responsibility for projects from inception through to completion.

UK‑based and willing to travel 2–3 days per week across the UK and Ireland to support flagship projects.

Your role
  • Delivery and Leadership
    • Coordinate and deliver the agreed revenue, profit, and cash‑flow expectations. You will be responsible for delivering schemes to budget and programme through feasibility and option‑engineering, to approval in principal and detailed design.
    • Clear and accurate monitoring and reporting of project performance against programme, technical quality, financial and KPI targets – both internally and externally.
    • Lead the project team – building, motivating, maintaining, coaching, guiding and developing the team.
    • Work with resource managers to undertake forward planning to ensure adequate capacity to meet requirements.
    • Coordinate a common understanding of scope, programme, costs, constraints, risk and interfaces on your projects.
  • Governance and Commercial
    • Ensure compliance with Atkins

      Réalis, client and industry requirements. Manage risk and opportunity for the project from inception through to completion.
    • Administer and negotiate change control, contract administration through the project life cycle.
  • Community and Development
    • Contribute to the Project Management community and share best practice and learnings.
    • Mentor and develop Assistant Project Managers and other team members as required.
  • Client
  • You will be the main point of contact with our client's project team on your projects.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships to support project delivery performance and maximise potential for extensions and new work.
  • Embrace our "everyone sells" mentality to identify and develop future opportunities for Atkins

    Réalis.
  • Provide bid leadership on selective pursuits. Act as Bid Manager for small, medium and large projects, ensuring the deliverability of tendered works.
About You
  • You are likely to have several years of multi‑disciplinary infrastructure project delivery experience, ideally from within a consultancy environment.
  • Project/Engineering Management background with experience in the Rail sector (e.g. Network Rail and/or HS2 and Principal Contractors).
  • Understanding of Network Rail Standards.
  • Experience of working closely and leading multi‑disciplinary design teams (>£1m design fees).
  • Understanding of design procedures, change control, checking and review requirements.
  • Ability to work constructively and collaboratively with clients and internal teams to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Experience deploying various construction contracts, in particular NEC3 or 4 and/or bespoke forms of contract.
  • Professional membership and recognised level of Project Management competence (e.g. MAPM, MICE, PMØ, or equivalent) – desirable.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
