About The Role

Bespak is looking for an onsite, permanent, Multi Skilled Engineer on the Holmes Chapel site, CW4 8BE
. The salary for this role is £49746.53 per annum plus 24% shift allowance. Other benefits you will receive are 25 days leave plus bank holidays, discretionary annual bonus, generous 10% pension contribution, onsite free parking, and medical / dental / health / life assurance.

Working Pattern – 5 day 3 shift pattern 13:50 – 22:00, 05:50 – 14:00 & 21:50 - 06:00 rotating Monday to Friday

As a Multi-Skilled Engineer provide a professional engineering maintenance and repair service for pharmaceutical production equipment and process systems. Drive optimisation of asset performance by improving reliability, efficiency, and operational effectiveness. Ensure full compliance with safety standards, accurate record-keeping, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Bespak in Holmes Chapel is an Investors in People Silver Award-winning pharmaceutical CDMO with over 350 employees, currently going through a period of significant site expansion. We are investing heavily to increase our capacity for developing and manufacturing sustainable pMDIs (asthma inhalers) with greener propellants, meeting the evolving standards of the industry, while providing comprehensive development, manufacturing, filling, and finishing solutions for a range of medical devices, including SMIs, DPIs, nasal sprays, and medical check valves.

Multi‑Skilled

Engineer Duties
  • Carry out planned preventive and breakdown maintenance, repairs, and inspections on pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment and systems, ensuring adherence to safety and cGMP standards. Maintain equipment reliability in line with scheduled plans while using CMMS and SOPs to ensure full compliance and accurate documentation.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying faults, implementing solutions, and recommending enhancements to improve efficiency, quality, and cost performance across manufacturing, filling, and packaging operations. Support equipment installation, commissioning, and qualification activities, and ensure availability of required spares and consumables.
  • Contribute to team capability by maintaining up-to-date technical skills, completing training, and supporting the development of colleagues. Demonstrate strong ethical accountability by adhering to company policies, industry regulations, and escalating issues when required.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by following all health and safety procedures, reporting incidents or risks, and supporting investigations to prevent recurrence.
Beneficial Key Skills and Experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ post‑apprenticeship experience in an engineering role within a pharmaceutical or regulated industry.
  • Multi‑skilled engineer with strong fault‑finding and troubleshooting capability, able to make sound decisions and work with minimal supervision.
  • Effective team player with clear communication skills; able to support, guide, and train operators, apprentices, contractors, and suppliers as required.
  • Proficient in PC‑based maintenance systems (CMMS).
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment processes with a high level of health & safety awareness.
  • Proactive in identifying personal training needs and contributing to the development of others within the team.
  • Completed a nationally recognised apprenticeship (or equivalent) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a secondary engineering discipline (Electrical or Mechanical).
