Principal Civil Pipeline Engineer

Shape the future of our cities and environments. We are looking for an energetic and experienced Principal Civil Pipeline Engineer to join the Design & Advanced Technology (D&AT) Practice  role involves leading complex civil‑pipeline design projects for UK water market clients.

• Coordinate or manage a team of Civil Pipeline engineers to deliver technical design work on multi‑disciplinary projects.
• Produce and review technical deliverables such as design reports, drawings, calculations and scopes of work.
• Provide technical input into project design deliverables and work with project management to manage time and budgets.
• Collaborate with client and internal teams, mentor less‑experienced colleagues and grow local capabilities.
• Work independently with minimal technical guidance; exercise judgement to solve complex problems.
• Provide technical support for bid proposals and design solutions for UK and overseas projects.
• Adhere to quality assurance standards in design, including review of own and others’ work.

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered or Incorporated Civil Engineer.
• Experience coordinating or managing a Civil Pipeline engineering design delivery team in a multi‑disciplinary consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of pipeline design (construction, rehabilitation, assessment, commissioning, operation and maintenance) and current UK and international design codes.
• Practical experience with digital analysis packages such as HADES and Varism.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to convey technical concepts to diverse teams.
• Proactive, highly motivated, collaborative mindset and ability to work independently.

Based in Birmingham, Bristol or Derby offices – hybrid working with 3 days per week in office or on site.

Security clearance may be required. Offers of employment will depend on obtaining an appropriate clearance level. Candidates must provide proof of UK residency for five years or longer.
