You can work independently once trained, take responsibility for your tasks, communicate clearly with teammates and supervisors to ensure safe, correct work. You’re motivated by meaningful work, aiming to protect public health and the environment. You value clear expectations, stability and progression, and you’re interested in building a long‑term career that progresses from surveyor to analyst.

So how does the apprenticeship work?Start your career as an asbestos site technician and gain hands‑on experience supporting essential surveying, air monitoring and inspection work in real‑world environments. Over 12 months, you will combine day‑to‑day experience with structured training delivered by expert tutors at Tiro, including online sessions, in‑person training, hands‑on support and a mentor. You’ll spend at least 6 hours per week on off‑the‑job training, including virtual learning, practical activities and applied assignments.
You will progress towards the RSPH Level 3 Award in Asbestos Air Monitoring and Clearance Procedures. The programme may lead to professional recognition such as becoming a Registered Science Technician (RSciTech).
Upon completion, you will have gained highly valued experience in a regulated and essential industry, opening opportunities to grow and specialise within asbestos surveying, air monitoring and related technical roles.
