Role Overview
Supplier Quality Engineer
Remote travel once a week across Midlands
Salary: £40,000 to £48,000 plus car allowance
Key Responsibilities- Develop positive relationships and work closely with key suppliers to manage, implement and track supplier/engineering design changes, capacity studies and New Product Introductions and transfers.
- Collaboration with suppliers to identify root cause(s) of manufacturing and special process issues and lead implementation of resolutions (containment and countermeasures).
- Management of supplier DR process (non-conforming product).
- Hands on approach to fully understand quality issues identified and challenge where necessary.
- Management of supplier scorecard process, tracking performance against identified KPIs, identifying opportunities to drive improvement and ensuring these are embedded into supplier processes.
- Participate in Supplier Performance Management Reviews, working closely with colleagues in Supply Chain and other departments.
- Management/development of FAIR/PPAP process.
- Management of supplier concession process.
- Auditing of supplier systems/processes identifying improvement opportunities and ensuring implementation of corrective actions.
- Support suppliers with technical queries (drawing/material/specification/manufacturing limitations) closely collaborating with internal departments
- Identifying and onboarding of new suppliers.
- Must be flexible and able to travel sometimes at short notice.
- The ability to work with little direction in a proactive and ambassadorial manner.
- Experience with in a manufacturing/engineering environment.
- Knowledge of quality management system requirements.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes (Machining/EDM/Grinding/Welding) and coating processes.
- Experience of structured problem‑solving techniques demonstrating clear identification of root causes and corrective/preventative actions.
- Understanding of process capability.
- Broad technical knowledge including the ability to read and understand drawing GD&T.
- Experience of measuring systems.
- Auditing experience both systems and process.
- Awareness of APQP including Process Flow/PFMEA/Control Plans
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Good IT skills (Word/Excel/Powerpoint/ MRP system).
- Collaborative and an excellent team worker.
- Current valid driving licence is required.
