£40,000 + Assessor Training + Local Government Pension + Mileage + Career Progression
Are you an experienced Rail Engineer with a strong background in Rolling Stock maintenance and repair? Do you want to move into a rewarding role where you can support and develop the next generation of Rail Engineering professionals while enjoying excellent rates, training, and long‑term career progression? Join a growing apprenticeship provision within a well‑established College group that is investing in its Rail Engineering department.
This is an exciting opportunity to use your industry expertise to support apprentices, give back to the sector, and develop a long‑term career within education and assessment.
- Assess Rail Engineering apprentices across the West Midlands.
- Focus on Rolling Stock maintenance and repair apprenticeships.
- Work with 19+ apprentices in workplace and training environments.
- Support apprentices with progress, evidence gathering, and skills development.
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance throughout the apprenticeship journey.
- Manage a caseload of apprentices across the local Birmingham / West Midlands area.
- Typical travel radius of around 10‑15 miles from Birmingham.
- Full‑time role available, 37 hours per week.
- Assessor training and additional development provided where required.
- Mileage covered for travel, with holiday pay accrued and paid in line with the hourly structure.
- Level 3 qualification in Rail Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Strong Rolling Stock maintenance and repair experience.
- Hands‑on experience working on trains / rolling stock essential.
- Assessor qualification highly desirable but not essential.
- Candidates coming directly from industry will be considered.
- Consistent, reliable, and committed to supporting apprentices.
- Strong communication skills and a genuine motivation to move into education.
- Based within a commutable distance of Birmingham / the West Midlands.
The salary advertised is the bracket available for this position. The actual salary paid will be dependent on your level of experience, qualifications and skill set and will be decided by our client, the employer. Rise are not responsible or liable for any hiring decisions made by the end client.
