Job Description
WSP is recruiting graduates for our Rail Engineering Services team. These graduates will work across a range of projects, gaining experience in railway infrastructure, information management, and project management.
Teams and Locations- Rail Civil Infrastructure – Leeds, London, Manchester, Belfast
- Information Management – Birmingham, London, Manchester, Belfast
- Project Management – Birmingham, London, Manchester
Graduates in RCI will support multidisciplinary railway projects, providing engineering input across track, signalling, power supply, telecoms, and rolling stock integration.
- Apply engineering principles to assess railway systems and support new designs.
- Assist senior engineers and project managers with research, documentation, and data analysis.
- Ensure seamless interaction between subsystems for safe, efficient operation.
- Capture, analyse, and translate client requirements into engineering solutions.
- Participate in hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety case development.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Prepare and review technical deliverables.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technology, and regulatory changes.
Required:
MEng Civil Engineering Information Management
As a graduate in the Digital Services team, you will work with Building Information Modelling (BIM), information management, and digital innovation across transport projects.
- Support projects with BIM digital advisory and strategy.
- Coordinate and review BIM models for accuracy.
- Work with ISO 19650 standards and common data environments (e.g., BIM
360 Docs). - Implement workflows for digital collaboration.
- Explore BIM software solutions to improve delivery efficiency.
- Produce engineering models and drawings.
- Act as a BIM coordinator and resolve design issues.
- Collaborate with UK and international teams.
Required:
MEng Mechanical or Civil Engineering, MEng/MSc in Computing, MSc in BIM for Smart Engineering (or related fields) Project Management
Graduates in this team will contribute to all stages of rail project planning, monitoring, risk, cost, and stakeholder engagement.
- Manage budgets, forecasts, and cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support the team to deliver scope on time and within budget while meeting quality standards.
- Develop and maintain project plans, including scope, schedule, cost, and risk.
- Ensure alignment with client expectations and internal delivery frameworks.
Required:
Master’s in engineering or relevant business/management degree Graduate Development Programme
Our two‑year programme offers blended learning, core business and professional skills training, career workshops, networking, mentoring, and support for professional registration (e.g., IET, IMechE).
Qualifications and Expectations- Graduated with at least a 2:1 in a master’s degree relevant to the role.
- Ability to start work in September 2026.
- Passion or knowledge of computing and information processing.
- Interest in the built environment and infrastructure.
- Enthusiasm for creativity and problem solving.
- Willingness to share new ideas and inspire the team.
