Overview
Morson Edge is recruiting for Product Review Engineers to be based in Birmingham on an initial 6-month contract for our Aerospace clients. This role suits a proactive engineer who can make decisions that extend from desk to factory/hangar, and is open to Mechanical and/or Avionic/Electrical Product Review work. The successful candidate will be trained to hold authorisation/certification for the applicable aircraft platform and will conduct root cause analysis, develop dispositions for identified non-conformances (NCRs), and identify or support improvements to processes and procedures.
The Product Review Engineer will coordinate with the Design organisation to resolve emergent airworthiness issues and concerns, and will typically create design solutions to address NCRs for parts and systems on an airplane. Solutions will consider metal and composite structures, interiors, payloads, electrical systems, functional testing, finishes, aerodynamics, electromagnetic environment, damage tolerance, fatigue and static strength. The role includes providing procedures, authorised repair advice and associated technical data to address engineering clarification questions or concerns.
The role requires applying engineering, maintenance and design process knowledge to define optimized component recovery techniques using design definitions, program directives, engineering drawings, schematics, functional tests or supplier data. The successful candidate will engage with the installation team on-site in Birmingham.
Key Responsibilities- Apply design engineering principles to research technical, operational and quality issues and design interim and final engineering solutions.
- Develop interim or final engineering solutions to product/process issues during production and/or for issues that cannot be resolved by the customer.
- Analyze and conduct failure analysis and root cause analysis; troubleshoot to determine root cause.
- Provide assistance and engineering support to identify solutions and written dispositions for design non-conformances.
- Identify deviations that could impact design intent and safety; contribute to product/process improvements.
- Develop customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Develop and implement product/process improvements; represent the engineering community in the post-production environment.
- Ensure suppliers and build partners comply with client standards and processes.
- Design interim structural repairs and conduct static strength analysis; develop non-destructive test procedures and perform simple static strength analysis.
- Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems; develop imaginative, thorough, practicable solutions aligned with organizational objectives, processes and standards.
- Work independently, determine approaches to solutions, and operate with general direction that is reviewed for objective achievement.
- Aircraft systems knowledge is required.
- High attention to detail and professional integrity.
- Strong communication skills;
- Ability to prioritise workloads and adapt to changing demands.
- Computer proficiency with MS Office (Word and Excel).
- Experience with aircraft maintenance and/or operations is valuable.
- Experience with major repairs or as an experienced Part 21 Engineer is desirable.
- Ability to plan work and use meaningful metrics to evaluate project status and provide performance visibility.
- Prior experience in aircraft fleet maintenance is desirable.
