About

The Role

As a Civil Engineer within our Buildings team, you’ll play a key role in the delivery of infrastructure design for a diverse range of building developments across the UK. You’ll work as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team, contributing to every stage of project delivery, from initial feasibility and planning through detailed design, construction and project completion.

Your Responsibilities
  • Delivering civil engineering designs for a wide variety of building developments.
  • Designing highways, access roads, levels strategies, external works and utility infrastructure.
  • Preparing surface water and foul water drainage strategies using Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) principles.
  • Producing engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications and design drawings.
  • Using industry‑standard software such as Civil 3D, Info Drainage, Causeway Flow and AutoCAD to develop innovative engineering solutions.
  • Supporting Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies where required.
  • Liaising with local authorities, statutory undertakers, approval bodies and external stakeholders throughout project delivery.
  • Coordinating designs with structural, MEP, geotechnical, environmental and planning teams to ensure fully integrated project solutions.
  • Applying CDM 2015 principles by identifying, managing and communicating design risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Attending client meetings, design reviews and site visits while building strong relationships with clients and project partners.
  • Supporting the successful delivery of projects to programme, budget and quality expectations.
  • Contributing to mentoring and knowledge sharing across the wider Civil Engineering team.

About You

We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving engineering challenges, values collaboration and is passionate about delivering high‑quality design solutions.

You’ll Have
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience delivering civil engineering design within a consultancy environment.
  • Experience working on building developments across sectors such as commercial, residential, education, healthcare, industrial or mixed‑use.
  • Knowledge of highways, drainage, external works and utility infrastructure design.
  • Experience using Civil 3D, Info Drainage, Causeway Flow, AutoCAD or equivalent design software.
  • A good understanding of UK design standards, approval processes and relevant legislation.
  • An appreciation of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS), flood risk and climate resilience principles.
  • Knowledge of CDM 2015 and the management of design risk.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and contribute to successful project delivery.
