Location
Based in Birmingham - the Central Region runs from the east of Birmingham into the city centre, comprising Sublot Delta, 1B, 4 and 5S. More than 50% of the structures within IPT Area North are located in the Central Region. This region, which covers a complex urban environment, also includes the 3.5 mile twin bore Bromford Tunnel. It also includes Interchange Station, as well as crossing three major highways (A45, M6 and M42).
RoleThe role ensures that MEP installation activities are planned safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements, programme objectives, quality standards, and industry best practice. Working closely with project delivery teams, designers, subcontractors, and construction managers, the MEP Lead Methods Engineer provides technical leadership to optimise installation strategies, improve productivity, reduce risk, and support successful project delivery.
Key Accountabilities Construction Methodology- Lead the development of detailed MEP construction methodologies and installation strategies.
- Produce and review method statements, work package plans, and construction sequencing documents.
- Develop solutions for complex installation and engineering challenges.
- Ensure methodologies align with programme, logistics, and project objectives.
- Support the integration of temporary works, logistics, and construction planning requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to project delivery teams and subcontractors.
- Review engineering designs and assess buildability and constructability.
- Identify opportunities for innovation, value engineering, and process improvement.
- Support the implementation of modular construction, offsite manufacture, and prefabrication solutions.
- Participate in technical reviews and engineering workshops.
- Work closely with planners and package managers to align construction methodologies with programme requirements.
- Support development of installation and commissioning schedules.
- Identify and mitigate construction risks affecting project delivery.
- Monitor implementation of approved methodologies on site.
- Assist with resolving complex technical and construction issues.
- Significant experience in MEP construction, building services engineering, or major project delivery.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and public health installation methodologies.
- Experience developing construction and installation strategies for complex projects.
- Excellent understanding of construction sequencing, logistics, and buildability principles.
- Strong problem-solving and technical decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
