HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

LocationBased in Birmingham - the Central Region runs from the east of Birmingham into the city centre, comprising Sublot Delta, 1B, 4 and 5S. More than 50% of the structures within IPT Area North are located in the Central Region. This region, which covers a complex urban environment, also includes the 3.5 mile twin bore Bromford Tunnel. It also includes Interchange Station, as well as crossing three major highways (A45, M6 and M42).
KeyAccountabilities
- To establish and implement the planning responsibilities document.
- Coordinate and update programmes with performance during the Stage 2 period.
- Ensure compliance to HS2 requirements.
- Contribute to developing risk and opportunities and QSRA and QCRA analysis.
- Support the production and delivery of the Performance Measurement Baseline and Performance Measurement Updates.
- Ensuring that the Programme captures scope management and aligns with BIM.
- Capture and integrate current and forecast programme, budget, cost, and risk at asset and sub-asset level.
- Promote best practice and innovation.
- Assist with the development of all planning and project control staff to reach their full potential.
- Assist with coaching and supporting of project control and planning staff, as required.
- Ensure that appropriate lean, coordinated and visual performance metrics are set up to assist the Project Team to timely deliver projects and improve performance.
- Effectively using IT and systems as a key enabler for gathering and timely and accurate reporting on project performance.
- Report writing skills.
- Substantial site experience of which some must be in relevant disciplines and some as a senior discipline planner.
- Aptitude for logic and attention to detail.
- Experience of planning & project control services within large complex environments within the construction and engineering industry.
- Understanding of various forms of tender documents, contract documents and specifications.
- Good understanding of various methods of project controls, planning and performance reporting.
- An understanding in risk and opportunity management.
