Service and Commissioning Engineer (Electrical / PLC)

£48,000 – £52,000 plus £6,000 car allowance. 37.5 hour week, 33 days holiday, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Birmingham – covering the UK with optional international travel to Europe, India and the Americas.

As a Service and Commissioning Engineer you will be responsible for installing, commissioning, servicing and maintaining cutting‑edge test equipment used in automotive powertrain and engine research and development. You will receive expert training before working independently, with job plans provided at least a week in advance.

• Commission and service test equipment across the UK and optionally abroad.
• Fault‑find and troubleshoot PLCs, motion controls and CAN interfaces.
• Participate in on‑site training and continuous professional development.
• Manage equipment maintenance schedules and documentation.
• Maintain a flexible working schedule – 5 hour start/finish windows with no overtime requirement.

• Service or commissioning engineer with a strong electrical background.
• Experience troubleshooting PLCs, motion control systems and CAN networks.
• Ability to work independently in high‑visibility environments, often away from home (average 100 nights per year).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
