About the roleWe have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Public Health Engineer to join our team in Birmingham.
It’s a great time to join Hoare Lea in Birmingham. Our office has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality engineering design across a wide range of built environment projects, working with clients across the Midlands and beyond. You’ll be part of a collaborative, knowledgeable and supportive team, working alongside specialist engineers and consultants in a flexible, high-performing environment.
As one of our key regional offices, Birmingham continues to grow and play an important role in our national delivery. We have a long-standing presence in the city and a diverse portfolio of projects, supported by a broad range of engineering disciplines.
As a Senior Public Health Engineer, you will support and deliver public health design solutions across projects of varying scale and complexity. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will help deliver a consistent, high-quality service to clients, while supporting repeat business, new opportunities and profitable project outcomes.
In this varied role, you can expect to:
- Provide detailed, coordinated and cost-effective public health design advice to a varied client base.
- Prepare specifications, calculations and technical reports tailored to project needs.
- Design above- and below-ground drainage systems, rainwater and roof drainage, hot and cold-water services, and fire suppression systems to programme, budget and quality standards.
- Produce clear calculations, reports and specifications with strong written communication skills.
- Attend design team meetings, client meetings and site inspections.
- Work with minimal supervision and take ownership of your own projects where required.
- Manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to tight deadlines.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Proven experience as a Public Health Engineer, or in a closely related role, delivering a range of complex projects.
- A strong understanding of drainage systems, including rainwater and domestic water services.
- Proficiency in relevant software such as Revit and AutoCAD.
- A collaborative approach, self-awareness, an open mind and a generous spirit.
- Good working knowledge of relevant British Standards.
- Consultancy experience.
