We are currently looking for a Cost Engineer to join a leading manufacturer of motorcycles based in the UK. This role will play a key part in ensuring accurate product costing, validating supplier quotations and driving continuous cost optimisation across new and existing vehicle programmes. Its an excellent opportunity for an experienced cost specialist with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and complex vehicle assemblies, who enjoys working cross-functionally within a fast-paced engineering environment.

The

Cost Engineer will:
  • Prepare should-cost calculations and cost estimates to validate supplier quotations for technology parts and build-to-print components.
  • Support cost negotiations in collaboration with the Purchasing team.
  • Provide target cost estimates and evaluations throughout new product development.
  • Analyse material costs, tooling investments and assembly costs.
  • Set up and maintain foreign exchange and raw-material commodity indexation matrices.
  • Support make-versus-buy assessments, sourcing strategies and supplier negotiations.
The Cost Engineer will have:
  • A bachelors degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Automotive or Manufacturing Engineering, or a Finance qualification (CIMA, ACA, ACCA).
  • Significant experience in cost engineering, product costing or should-costing within an OEM or Tier 1 manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with in premium vehicle, automotive, motorcycle, motor sport, aerospace or complex sub-assembly manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing engineering processes, including machining, die-casting, forging, composites and vehicle assembly operations.
  • Experience assessing tooling costs, manufacturing investments and production cost drivers.
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs and technical specifications.
