Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer

Birmingham

£35,000 - £45,000

A growing environmental and geotechnical consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer to join their team in Birmingham.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced geoenvironmental professional looking to take on more responsibility across a varied portfolio of projects, with the opportunity to lead investigations, manage projects and support the development of junior staff.

The Role

You will be involved in a range of geoenvironmental and contaminated land projects, including:

Planning and managing Phase 1 and Phase 2 contaminated land investigations
Preparing factual and interpretative reports
Developing conceptual site models and assessing contamination risks
Designing and supervising ground investigations
Soil and groundwater sampling and monitoring
Reviewing laboratory results and assessing contamination data
Producing remediation strategies and validation reports
Liaising with clients, contractors, regulators and other consultants
Supporting environmental permitting and regulatory requirements
Managing projects, budgets and technical deliverables
Mentoring and supporting junior members of the team

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

A degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline
Several years' experience within a geoenvironmental or contaminated land consultancy
Strong experience across Phase 1 and Phase 2 investigations

Experience with site investigation, soil and groundwater sampling
Good technical report writing skills
Experience managing projects and liaising with clients
A good understanding of UK contaminated land legislation and guidance
A full UK driving licence

Chartered status or working towards chartership would be advantageous.

The Opportunity

This role offers the chance to take a senior position within a growing consultancy, working on a varied portfolio of contaminated land, remediation and ground investigation projects. There is also scope to take on greater project management and technical leadership responsibilities as the team continues to grow
