MEICA Project Engineer

Job Purpose We are seeking an experienced MEICA Project Engineer to join our project delivery team on a permanent basis, based in the West Midlands.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical delivery and coordination of Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) activities across a range of projects.
You will support projects from design and procurement through installation, testing, commissioning and final handover, ensuring works are delivered safely, to programme, within budget and in accordance with client specifications and relevant standards.

Key Responsibilities  
Manage and coordinate MEICA engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.
Review and coordinate mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation designs.
Review drawings, specifications, calculations, technical submissions and equipment schedules.
Provide technical support to site teams during installation and commissioning.
Coordinate interfaces between MEICA, civil and structural works.
Support the Project Manager with programme, cost, risk and technical management.
Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams.
Attend design, progress, technical and client meetings.
Assist with procurement, supplier selection and technical evaluation.
Review supplier drawings, technical submissions and equipment documentation.
Carry out site inspections and monitor installation works.
Support preparation and review of RAMS, ITPs and quality documentation.
Manage technical queries and resolve engineering issues.
Coordinate testing, commissioning and handover activities.
Support FAT, SAT, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
Ensure completion of as-built drawings, O&M manuals and handover documentation.
Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, quality and environmental compliance.
Ensure engineering activities comply with project specifications, CDM requirements and relevant UK standards.  Technical Experience Experience in several of the following areas would be advantageous:
 
Mechanical plant and equipment
Electrical distribution systems
MCCs and control panels
Instrumentation and field devices
PLC and SCADA systems
Control and automation
Pumps, valves and process equipment
Variable-speed drives
LV electrical systems
Telemetry and communications
Testing and commissioning
Engineering drawings and technical specifications  

Experience with in water and wastewater, utilities, infrastructure, industrial or process engineering environments would be highly desirable.
Qualifications & Experience Essential  
HNC, HND or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, Automation or a related engineering discipline.
Previous experience working as a MEICA Engineer, Project Engineer or similar.
Experience delivering multidisciplinary engineering or construction projects.
Strong understanding of engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Experience working with clients, contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary teams.
Good understanding of health, safety and quality requirements.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and technical deliverables.  Desirable

Experience with in the UK water/wastewater sector.
Experience working on major infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of NEC contracts.
Knowledge of CDM Regulations.
PLC/SCADA and industrial automation experience.
Testing and commissioning experience.
IEng/CEng status or working towards professional registration.
Membership of an appropriate engineering institution.
