Your new company

A long-established, independent geo-environmental and engineering consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering practical solutions to complex land, infrastructure and environmental challenges. Operating throughout the UK, they provide specialist services across geotechnical engineering, contaminated land, site investigation, mining and minerals, environmental engineering and surveying. They work on a range from residential developments through to major commercial schemes.

With a collaborative culture, diverse project portfolio and commitment to technical excellence, they offer an excellent opportunity for professionals looking to develop their careers within a respected and growing consultancy.

Your new role

The role is based in the West Midlands with hybrid working available. Fieldwork forms an important part of the position, with site visits primarily across the Midlands with some further afield across the UK. You will support and manage a variety of geo-environmental and mining-related projects, working across both office-based and site-based activities. The role offers exposure to every stage of a project, from initial desk studies through to site investigations, interpretation, reporting and verification works.
Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking and contributing to Phase 1 Desk Studies and geo-environmental assessments.
  • Carrying out site investigations and supervising ground investigation works.
  • Groundwater and environmental monitoring.
  • Scheduling and coordinating laboratory testing.
  • Preparing technical reports, risk assessments and factual documentation.
  • Supporting coal mining risk assessments and land quality projects.
  • Assisting with remediation, verification and validation works.
  • Liaising with clients, subcontractors and internal project teams.
What you'll need to succeed
  • Degree qualified in Geology, Environmental Science, Geotechnical Engineering, Earth Sciences or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience within a geo-environmental, geotechnical or ground investigation consultancy environment in the UK
  • Experience supporting projects from site work through to reporting.
  • Understanding of ground investigations, contaminated land or environmental assessment.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
What you'll get in return
  • Salary up to £30,000 depending on experience.
  • Annual bonus (based on company performance).
  • Annual salary review.
  • Clear progression opportunities within a growing team.
  • Exposure to the full project lifecycle rather than a narrow technical specialism.
  • Hybrid working arrangement.
  • Company vehicle access for site work.
  • Mileage reimbursement for use of personal vehicle.
  • Paid accommodation and subsistence when staying away on business.
  • Earlier finish on Fridays.
  • Supportive, collaborative and non-corporate working environment.
