About the business unit
We help conceive, drive, and implement transport solutions for cities, regions, and asset owners/operators around the globe. From preparing the business case and advising on related issues - such as revenue, procurement, and environmental legislation - to delivering the completed infrastructure and helping maintain it. Our planning, engineering, environmental and management skills cover the whole project cycle. We play a major role in developing and delivering the Global Transport Sector Strategy.

Overview of the role

We are inviting expressions of interest from civil engineers at various levels to join our Transport and Mobility Solutions Division due to our recent wins in the local authority sector. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-impact infrastructure projects in the West Midlands while developing your career within a collaborative and forward-thinking organisation.

Key elements of the role are:

• Proactively managing the planning, design and implementation of a variety of civil engineering projects for local authorities
• Championing the development of innovative, sustainable and cost-effective solutions that meet the needs of clients and the wider community
• Have and promote a right first-time approach to delivery
• Working on bids which develop successful working relationships with clients
• Leading a portfolio of multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring delivery to client requirements, programme and budget
• Controlling project resources and monitoring against budget
• Mentoring and developing the full potential of your team

Candidate specification

Essential:

• Demonstrated experience in civil and/or structural engineering, with the capability to successfully undertake the responsibilities of the role
• Experience using relevant civil engineering software
• Project management, communication, technical leadership and collaborative working skills
• Experience working effectively across multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
• Degree qualified in Engineering, or a related discipline, or able to demonstrate equivalent relevant experience
• Chartered status with a relevant professional institution, or working towards chartership, or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of professional expertise.

Desirable:

• Experience working for a Local Authority and/or working on Local Authority projects
