We are looking for an experienced Planner to join our team and support the successful planning and delivery of projects across the energy, power and infrastructure sectors.
The successful candidate will have experience in project planning within the power, utilities, energy or infrastructure environment, ideally with exposure to grid connections, power supply or electrical infrastructure.
Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Contractors and other project stakeholders, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining project programmes, monitoring progress and supporting the wider project team in delivering projects safely, efficiently and to programme.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain detailed project programmes in line with project requirements and delivery objectives.
Support the preparation of project schedules covering design, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning and handover activities.
Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Commercial teams and Contractors to ensure programmes remain accurate and achievable.
Monitor progress against agreed programmes and provide regular updates to the project team.
Identify programme risks, delays, dependencies and potential areas of concern.
Support the development of mitigation and recovery plans where programme slippage occurs.
Assist with the management of project interfaces and dependencies between contractors, suppliers, engineering teams and other stakeholders.
Review contractor and supplier programmes and ensure activities are appropriately reflected within the overall project programme.
Maintain programme baselines, milestones, critical path activities and progress information.
Prepare regular programme reports and provide clear commentary on project progress.
Support project meetings by providing programme updates, key milestones and upcoming activities.
Assist with change control and assess the programme impact of project changes.
Contribute to project risk and opportunity management from a planning perspective.
Support continuous improvement of planning processes, systems and reporting.
About You
We are looking for a proactive and organised Planner who is keen to develop their career within the energy and infrastructure sector.
You will ideally have:
Experience working as a Planner, Project Planner or Assistant Planner within the energy, power, utilities, construction or infrastructure sectors.
Exposure to grid connections, power supply, electrical infrastructure or related projects.
Experience developing and maintaining project programmes.
Good understanding of project planning principles, including sequencing, dependencies, milestones and critical path.
Experience using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project or similar planning software.
Ability to monitor progress and identify potential programme risks and delays.
Good understanding of project delivery from design and procurement through to construction and commissioning.
Strong analytical and organisational skills.
Good communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
A proactive approach to identifying issues and supporting the project team in resolving them.
The ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple activities across a busy project environment.
Experience or knowledge in one or more of the following would be advantageous:
Electricity transmission or distribution networks.
Grid connection projects.
Substations and HV infrastructure.
Power generation or energy storage.
Renewable energy projects.
Data centre power infrastructure.
Utility infrastructure and network upgrades.
HV/MV/LV electrical systems.
Commissioning and energisation activities.
