Are you passionate about protecting the natural environment and ready to apply what you’ve learned to major energy and infrastructure projects? Join our two year Graduate Programme and begin your career within our Environmental Services team .
You’ll work alongside experienced environmental consultants supporting major projects across rail, highways, utilities, water, energy and aviation. Depending on your qualifications and interests, you’ll begin your career within either our ecology or water environment team, while gaining exposure to the wider environmental services practice.
Our ecologists help projects understand and manage their impact on habitats, protected species and biodiversity. Our water specialists work with groundwater, surface water and water-quality information to help projects manage environmental risks, meet regulatory requirements and make informed decisions.
You’ll be supported as you develop your technical knowledge, gain experience on live projects and build the confidence to work with clients, contractors, regulators and multidisciplinary teams.
Job DescriptionYour Responsibilities
From day one, you’ll contribute to live energy and infrastructure projects, combining technical information, environmental data and site-based evidence to help project teams make responsible and informed decisions.
Your responsibilities will depend on whether your initial pathway is within ecology or the water environment, but may include:
- Supporting ecological or water related surveys, site walkovers and environmental monitoring.
- Collecting, managing and analysing environmental data using tools such as Excel and GIS.
- Assisting with environmental assessments, technical reports, management plans and project documentation.
- Helping identify environmental risks, constraints and potential impacts associated with project design and construction.
- Supporting compliance with environmental legislation, standards, consent conditions and monitoring requirements.
- Working with environmental specialists, designers, engineers, construction teams, clients and regulators.
- Contributing to practical recommendations that protect habitats, species, groundwater and surface water.
- Taking part in project meetings, field activities and technical reviews while developing your specialist knowledge.
Your Strengths and Requirements for Success
We’re looking for graduates who:
- Have recently completed, or expect to complete, a relevant degree before joining the Graduate Programme.
- For the ecology pathway, this may include Ecology, Biology, Zoology, Environmental Science, Conservation or a closely related discipline.
- For the water pathway, this may include Geology, Hydrogeology, Hydrology, Environmental Science, Geography or a closely related discipline.
- Have a genuine interest in developing a career within ecology or the water environment.
- Are interested in how major energy and infrastructure projects interact with the natural environment.
- Enjoy working with environmental information, evidence and data.
