Job Description & How to Apply Below
Home Based - West Midlands / Western UK
UK Travel + Regular Staying Away
If you're used to walking into a production facility, getting underneath a complex machine fault and staying with it until the equipment is running properly again, this could be for you.
We're looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to support complex production machinery and automated equipment at major UK manufacturing sites, with a particular focus on advanced manufacturing and aerospace.
This isn't a high-volume service role and we're not looking for someone maintaining general factory facilities or utilities .
You'll be working directly on the machinery and automated equipment used within production , often spending several days on one customer site diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, completing planned maintenance and making improvements.
What you'll be doing
Fault finding on complex production machinery and automated equipment
Electrical and mechanical diagnosis and repair
Working with PLC-controlled machinery, drives, motors, sensors and control systems
Planned and preventative maintenance
Machine modifications, upgrades and improvement work
Installation and commissioning
Working from electrical and mechanical drawings
Identifying the root cause of recurring equipment problems
Supporting customers on longer-term engineering projects
What we're looking for
You'll already be an experienced Field Service Engineer, Service Engineer, Commissioning Engineer or Production Equipment Engineer with a background in complex industrial machinery.
Ideally, you'll have worked on equipment within aerospace manufacturing , although we'd also consider strong backgrounds in automotive or other advanced manufacturing environments.
Most importantly, you'll need experience servicing, repairing and fault finding on production machinery , rather than simply maintaining a manufacturing site.
You'll probably have experience with some of the following:
Automated production machinery
PLC-controlled equipment
Robotics and automation
Motors, drives and control systems
Complex mechanical systems
Installation and commissioning
Machine upgrades and modifications
Electrical and mechanical fault finding
You'll need to be comfortable working independently, dealing directly with customers and travelling throughout the UK, including regular overnight stays.
We're looking for an engineer, not a parts changer.
If you're the person customers rely on when a complicated piece of production equipment stops working and the obvious fix hasn't worked, we'd like to hear from you.
Coburg Banks Limited is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
