New Leaf Search has partnered with an Asset Finance specialist in its search for an Underwriter.

Location:

UK, Birmingham / Midlands (Hybrid).

The Underwriter will support the group underwriting function, delivering risk-based credit assessment across incoming proposals while ensuring strong governance, sound commercial judgement and consistent decision-making across the business.

• Deliver risk-based assessment of incoming proposals from Group companies.
• Make underwriting decisions using analytical tools including credit searches, financial accounts and cashflow analysis.
• Analyse large volumes of financial and commercial information to assess risk exposure.
• Clearly justify decisions and provide structured feedback to Sales and Support teams.
• Assist in preparation and presentation of Credit Papers to senior stakeholders.
• Support new initiatives, pilot schemes and process improvements.
• Participate in testing and embedding new systems and underwriting procedures.
• Assist with post-payout deal audits and provide recommendations where required.
• Process financial documentation and maintain efficient workflow using internal systems and MS Office tools.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements.
• Complete mandatory training and embed conduct rules in daily activities.
• Support continuous improvement and professional development within the underwriting function.

• Experience with in underwriting or junior underwriting in financial services, ideally asset finance.
• Strong analytical capability with attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret financial statements, cashflows and credit risk indicators.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Organised, adaptable and able to manage changing workloads.
• Strong Microsoft Office and systems capability.

We strongly favour applicants with proven, relevant experience in Financial Services; particularly Asset Finance and Leasing.

You will also require relevant IN-COUNTRY experience; without which, your application will NOT be considered.
