Financial Accountant – Software – Birmingham, 50/50 on-site/WFH, 3 to 6 months, established software business.

Are you a qualified accountant with strong revenue recognition experience? Do you thrive on tightening controls, improving reporting, and making sense of complex contracts?

We Do Group are looking for an Interim Financial Accountant to support a busy finance team during a period of change and transformation. You’ll be hands-on with all aspects of revenue and cost of sale accounting, helping embed best practice and improve how the team uses its systems (Salesforce & Net Suite).

This is a great fit for someone who enjoys the detail—getting stuck into reconciliations, interrogating contract data, and ensuring revenue is recognised cleanly and consistently.

• Strong technical grounding in revenue and cost of sale accounting (FRS 102 / IFRS 15)
• Proven ability to handle complex contracts and revenue models
• Confident working across ERP and CRM systems in a deadline-driven team

• Review contracts and bookings to ensure accurate revenue and billing profiles
• Prepare and post monthly revenue and COS journals
• Own revenue and COS month-end close tasks
• Reconcile deferred and accrued income, cost to fulfil, prepayments, and accruals
• Support improvements to revenue recognition and COS processes
• Analyse revenue performance and provide commentary on variances
• Collaborate with Sales, Projects, and other Finance teams to validate inputs
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards (FRS 102, IFRS 15)
• Provide audit support for revenue and COS areas
• Identify areas to automate or streamline revenue/COS processes
• Help integrate acquired entities into group revenue reporting

• Good working knowledge of MS Excel
• Extensive experience of revenue recognition & cost of sale accounting
• Thorough, organised, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment

• 2–3 days onsite (Tues–Thurs)
• 3 to 6 month contract
