Senior Financial Accountant
Location:
UK wide - Fully remote with some occasional onsite presence required
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum

About the Role
As a Senior Financial Accountant, you'll be responsible for leading month-end processes, overseeing year-end statutory accounts, managing tax and treasury functions, and identifying opportunities for improvement across financial systems and processes. You’ll collaborate across finance teams, act as a key contact for auditors and external stakeholders, and ensure all financial practices meet statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the month-end close process and timetable delivery
* Review and improve financial accounting processes and controls
* Coordinate budgeting, forecasting, and statutory year-end activities
* Oversee VAT, corporation tax, PAYE, and Gift Aid submissions
* Manage treasury functions, including donor payments and banking arrangements
* Serve as a super-user of finance systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics BC)
* Act as a liaison with auditors, HMRC, and financial institutions
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement and compliance
Role-specific knowledge & skills
Essential:
* Qualified Accountant or passed finalist (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
* Strong financial accounting and treasury management experience
* Advanced Excel skills and solid data management abilities
* Knowledge of UK GAAP, Charity SORP, and tax regulations
* Proven year-end and audit delivery experience
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Desirable:
* Experience in systems implementation and process improvement
