Trinity House Group are representing a leading professional services organisation in Birmingham city centre is investing further in its commercial finance team with the hire of a Finance Business Partner.
This is a brilliant opportunity for a second mover from practice or an experienced analyst/partner who wants greater exposure, real influence, and the chance to work directly with senior operational leaders.
You will be embedded in the business, sitting alongside Managing Directors and senior partners, helping them understand performance, improve profitability and make smarter decisions.
The RoleThis position blends FP&A, stakeholder management and commercial modelling. You won't just report numbers - you will shape conversations, challenge assumptions and help leaders deliver against their targets.
Core Responsibilities Month End & Performance Insight- Produce monthly finance packs with high-quality, decision-focused commentary
- Analyse movements in revenue, costs and profitability, highlighting risks and opportunities
- Track KPIs such as chargeability, recoverability, utilisation and working capital metrics
- Develop new reporting where gaps exist (e.g. bad debt tracking, fee earner performance)
- Automate and enhance outputs to improve clarity for senior stakeholders
- Co-lead regular performance reviews with MDs and senior partners
- Present P&L results, explain variances and agree actions
- Provide clear YTD and forward-looking views of performance
- Lead the annual budget cycle for your business unit
- Build strong relationships with leaders to set fee targets and cost assumptions
- Maintain rolling forecasts, ensuring changes are reflected quickly and accurately
- Develop Excel-based models and workarounds where systems require enhancement
- Build financial models to support bonus and incentive schemes
- Provide profitability analysis for tenders and new work
- Partner with HR on performance management, promotions and hiring decisions
- Use data to help leaders plan recruitment and resource allocation
- Look for smarter, faster and more insightful ways to deliver information
- Improve processes, reporting structures and data integrity
- Increase self-service capability across the business
You’ll succeed here if you enjoy being close to the action, influencing senior people and making finance easy to understand.
You will likely be:
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or close)
- A second mover from practice or already in an FP&A / partnering role
- Strong in Excel and comfortable building financial models
- Confident presenting to senior stakeholders
- Commercially curious and happy to challenge
- Able to balance detail with big-picture thinking
Experience with in professional services, legal, consulting or other people-led environments would be highly advantageous.
