About Grant Thornton’s CFO Solutions – Finance Placements

Grant Thornton’s CFO Solutions provides strategic, transformation and execution support for CFOs through finance consultancy, finance placements, business process outsourcing and technical accounting advice. The Finance Placements team delivers an on‑demand, project‑focused accounting service by deploying interim finance professionals into clients’ finance functions to help them navigate periods of challenge or change.

Role Overview

As an Interim Public Sector Accountant in the Agile Talent Community you will work on short‑ to medium‑term assignments for CFO Solutions’ clients. Projects span the public sector (Central Government, Local Government and NHS) with opportunities in the private sector, covering accounting and audit support, finance function remediation, finance business partnering and finance change programs.

Responsibilities

You will be engaged on varied projects that require a broad skill set, including:

  • Half‑ and full‑year‑end accounts preparation
  • Audit liaison, project management and query resolution
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and forecasts
  • Financial reporting under the CIPFA Code of Practice, IFRS and the NAO Code of Practice
  • Finance business partnering and process improvement
  • Reconciliation and remediation of accounting data
Qualifications
  • Fully qualified member of a professional accounting body such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent
  • Experience working in the finance function of Council / Local Government, Central Government or the NHS
  • Problem‑solving mindset with a strong drive for best practice
  • Knowledge of finance fields such as accounts preparation, audit liaison, management accounts, financial reporting, business partnering, process improvement and data remediation
