Head of Finance (UK) — Turnaround & AI‑Native Operations Salary

Up to £130,000 + Equity Options (after 12 months)

However, for the first 6–8 weeks on‑site 3/4 days in Teeside (North England) to help with the new acquisition (Travel and accommodations paid).

We're partnering with a well‑backed UK/US startup at the intersection of clean technology and heavy industry — building and deploying next‑generation equipment while vertically integrating into the services that use it.

They're raising a Series A and expanding in the UK/US through acquisition. They need a Head of Finance to own the financial engine of that growth.

This is the most senior finance hire in the UK. You’ll report directly to the CEO, lead the UK finance function, and play a central role in stabilising and scaling a newly acquired manufacturing business in Teeside (North England).

The acquisition is recent and the business needs work. Your job is to get under the bonnet, build the turnaround plan, and drive it back to where it should be performing. The client needs someone who has done this before — that’s the hire.

• Lead the financial turnaround of a newly acquired manufacturing business
• Build the operating model — margin, cash flow, working capital
• Identify cost leakage and renegotiate supplier contracts, payment terms, and debt structures
• Own UK statutory reporting, audit, and tax compliance (UK GAAP / IFRS, R&D credits)
• Build investor‑grade financial infrastructure and reporting cadence
• Deploy AI tools to automate financial workflows — modelling, audit checks, reporting
• Manage and integrate a small manufacturing finance team

• Hands‑on turnaround experience — non‑negotiable
• Experience as a senior finance leader within a startup or scale‑up environment
• Experience integrating or stabilising an acquired business — highly relevant
• Advanced financial modelling — you build from scratch, fast
• Deep understanding of cash flow, working capital, and unit economics
• Genuine motivation to use AI in finance — prior experience not required, drive is
• Resilient, direct communicator comfortable managing upwards in a founder‑led environment
• Audit or consultancy background — strong advantage
• Background in industrials, manufacturing, or supply chain is a strong advantage
