Working as part of a high performing team giving first line administration of business rate demands and refund for over 55,000 properties with a combined payment value of over £500 million per annum.
Responsibilities- Manage clients’ rates portfolio and occasionally attend client meetings with senior members of the team.
- Prepare monthly rates and financial reporting for key clients.
- Provide commentary to clients on monthly business rate and financial reporting.
- Prepare budget, forecast and variance for key clients.
- Apply business rates legislation and case law to secure the best outcome for clients’ rate liabilities.
- Maintain client data effectively.
- Produce monthly and ad‑hoc reports for internal and external distribution.
- Identify risk and opportunities.
- Provide ongoing input into process improvement and efficiency.
- Develop skills and maintain high standards individually.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Work within KPI parameters consistently.
- Proven time management and organisational skills.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Critical thinking and problem solving.
- Adaptability (ability to work across multiple systems/clients operating in different sectors).
- Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
- Intermediate level or above Microsoft Excel skills.
- Work unsupervised when required to a high standard.
- Professional and client‑focused attitude.
- Good standard of Mathematics and English.
- Knowledge or experience of flex workspace administration/management.
- Knowledge or experience of Local Government finance.
- Ability to plan and prepare for known future requirements.
- Ability to work and positively support others productively.
- Deal with changes positively and helpfully.
