Job Description & How to Apply Below

You can win work. You can lead deals.

But if the platform around you is not helping you build, it eventually becomes the ceiling.

A growing UK advisory firm is looking to appoint a Corporate Finance Partner in Birmingham.

You know the lower mid-market.

You know how to sit opposite business owners, shareholders and management teams and give proper advice.

You can originate, lead and convert work.

But maybe your current platform is making that harder than it needs to be.

Too much politics. Too much reliance on your own network. Too many internal blockers.

Not enough genuine support around you.

This is a chance to change that.

The opportunity is to help build and lead a Birmingham Corporate Finance presence within a wider national advisory platform.

It is a build role, but not a cold start.

There are already:
  • internal referral routes
  • wider advisory relationships
  • dedicated origination support
  • research and marketing capability
  • private equity coverage
  • senior appetite to invest in Corporate Finance

The work sits firmly in the lower mid-market.

The firm completes nearly 100 deals a year, with aggregate deal value running into the billions. Average transaction size is typically around £20m to £25m EV, with the core market broadly sitting between £5m and £50m EV.

There is scope to move higher where the opportunity makes sense, but this is not a platform trying to become a £100m+ investment banking house.

The sweet spot is founder‑led, shareholder‑owned and privately backed business advisory. Practical, commercial, relationship‑led M&A where credibility with business owners, investors and advisers really matters.

What stands out:
  • Build Birmingham without starting from zero
  • Strong national platform and regional opportunity
  • Proper internal referral potential
  • Dedicated origination, research, marketing and PE coverage
  • Collaborative culture, not an elbow‑led target environment
  • Senior visibility and genuine room to shape the story
This will suit someone who:
  • Is already a Corporate Finance Partner, or a senior Director close to Partner
  • Has a credible lower mid-market M&A track record
  • Can originate, lead and convert mandates
  • Is credible with entrepreneurs, shareholders and management teams
  • Wants more ownership, but still wants infrastructure behind them
  • Likes the idea of building, not just inheriting a seat
Likely background you’ll come from:
  • Corporate Finance
  • Deals advisory
  • Mid‑market accountancy firm
  • Specialist Corporate Finance team
This probably won’t suit someone who:
  • Wants large‑cap investment banking work
  • Is mainly execution‑led
  • Has limited origination or relationship ownership
  • Comes mainly from transaction services, debt, strategy, fundraising or capital markets
  • Wants a title but not the responsibility to build
  • Prefers a highly individualistic, eat‑what‑you‑kill culture

If you are open to a confidential discussion, happy to share more detail.
