Job Summary

UHBFT is recruiting for a permanent Senior Financial Management Accountant (Band
5) on a full-time basis (37.5hrs). The role involves providing tailored financial support to research specialties, offering financial management advice and budgetary support to R&D Management and Research Application support teams, and managing grant costing, forecast budgeting and month‑end reporting. The post is based at Regents Court, George Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham B15 1NU
, with required travel across sites. Salary band:
Band 5, £32,073‑£34,592 per annum.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Five Grade GCSEs at Grade 4 or above (or A to C pre‑2019 grading) including Maths and English

Desirable

  • Progress towards a CCAB qualification (e.g. ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA) or significant relevant experience
Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in management accounts with a good understanding of accounting concepts and techniques

Desirable

  • Experience with in the NHS or another large complex organisation with knowledge of the annual cycle from planning through to year‑end forecasting and accounts preparation
  • Working knowledge or interest in NHS performance management framework and key targets

  • Displays smart appearance and integrity
  • Reliable, punctual, pro‑active approach
  • Ability to travel to fulfil the role, both between hospital sites and elsewhere, as required
