Job Description & How to Apply Below
Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will play a key role in supporting strategic decision-making, ensuring robust financial management and helping to deliver key business priorities. Applications are welcomed from experienced Finance Business Partners and Management Accountants who are looking to take the next step in their career. Candidates with public sector experience will be particularly well suited to this opportunity.
Your new role As Finance Business Partner, you will be responsible for providing high-quality management, accounting support and business partnering services to a range of senior stakeholders. You will take ownership of monthly management reporting, providing insightful analysis and commentary to support organisational performance and informed decision-making. You will lead the annual budgeting and business planning process, ensuring accurate financial forecasts and effective budget management throughout the year.
Working closely with budget holders and senior leaders, you will provide financial guidance, challenge and support to help achieve strategic objectives. The role will also involve supporting government reporting requirements, budget reviews and spending submissions, while ensuring compliance with relevant financial controls and approval processes. You will maintain effective relationships with internal audit and other key stakeholders, contributing to strong governance and budgetary control across the organisation.
In addition, you will be responsible for developing short and medium-term financial models to support planning activities, investment decisions and future resource requirements. This role requires you to work out of the Birmingham office 2 days per week. What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will be a part-qualified accountant or a qualified-by-experience finance professional with strong management accounting and business partnering experience.
Previous experience within the public sector is highly desirable, although applications from candidates with transferable experience will also be considered. You will have a proven track record of delivering budgeting, forecasting and management reporting processes, alongside the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Strong communication skills are essential, with the confidence to explain complex financial information to non-finance colleagues and provide constructive challenge where required.
You will be highly organised, resilient and able to work effectively within changing environments, managing multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines. Strong Excel skills, excellent attention to detail and experience of financial modelling are important.
Experience of project accounting would be advantageous. What you'll get in return In return, you will have the opportunity to join a collaborative and supportive organisation where finance plays a key role in driving performance and delivering meaningful outcomes. You will gain valuable exposure to senior stakeholders, strategic financial planning and business-critical projects, while working within a culture that values continuous improvement, open communication and professional development.
This 12-month opportunity offers an excellent platform for an experienced finance professional seeking a varied and impactful role with significant stakeholder engagement and the chance to make a genuine difference.
