Hours:
Full-time, 37.5 hours per week An established and growing business is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a responsible finance professional to play a key role and help to develop the office. Reporting into the Finance Director, the successful candidate will take a lead in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting management reporting, and ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day finance operations.
Key Responsibilities Preparation of monthly management accounts Perform bank, control account and intercompany reconciliations Maintain and reconcile the general ledger Support budgeting and forecasting activities Process accruals, prepayments and journal postings Cash flow Prepare VAT returns and assist with wider tax reporting requirements Support year-end audit processes and liaise with external auditors Identify and improve financial processes and internal controls Provide financial information and support to operational teams Assist with payroll processing and reconciliation Support the finance team with ad hoc reporting and projects About You You will be an organised and detail-oriented finance professional with strong technical accounting skills and a proactive approach.
Essential Requirements AAT qualified or currently studying ACCA, CIMA or a similar professional qualification Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role Good understanding of payroll processing and related legislation Strong Microsoft Excel skills Experience using accounting and payroll systems Key Skills Excellent attention to detail Strong numerical and analytical skills Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Strong organisational and time management skills Confident using finance systems and learning new software Self-motivated with a positive and proactive approach What's on Offer Opportunity to work within a supportive finance team Exposure to a broad range of accounting responsibilities Ongoing professional development opportunities Varied role with excellent career progression potential Competitive salary and benefits package If you are looking for your next step in finance and want to join a successful business where you can develop your technical accounting skills and make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you.
