New Leaf Search is partnering with an established UK Asset group in its search for a
Credit Underwriter
.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced underwriter to join a busy central credit function, assessing Asset Finance proposals across a varied portfolio of hard and soft assets together with unsecured lending.
You will use financial accounts, credit searches, business information and commercial judgement to assess risk and make well-reasoned underwriting decisions, while working closely with sales and support teams to ensure appropriate and commercially balanced outcomes.
Key Accountabilities- Deliver risk-based assessments of incoming Asset Finance proposals.
- Make underwriting decisions using credit searches, financial accounts, cash flow analysis and relevant business information.
- Assess large volumes of customer and business information to determine appropriate levels of credit risk.
- Clearly justify underwriting decisions and provide constructive feedback to sales and support teams.
- Assist with the preparation and presentation of credit papers for senior approval.
- Support new initiatives, pilot schemes and improvements to underwriting processes.
- Participate in the testing and implementation of new systems and procedures.
- Review completed transactions through post-payout auditing and recommend improvements where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain an efficient underwriting workflow.
- Previous underwriting experience within Financial Services, preferably Asset Finance and Leasing.
- Existing underwriting mandate and confidence making sound credit decisions.
- Strong understanding of Asset Finance and the differing risk characteristics of hard and soft assets.
- Ability to analyse financial statements, profit and loss accounts, balance sheets and debt servicing capability.
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good commercial judgement and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage changing workloads and priorities.
- Comfortable using Excel, Word, CRM and other credit-related systems.
We strongly favour applicants with proven, relevant experience in Financial Services, particularly in Asset Finance and Leasing. Relevant IN-COUNTRY experience is required; applications without it will not be considered.
Excellent salary plus bonus and benefits.
Salary dependent on experience, plus uncapped bonus, car allowance and excellent benefits.
Up to £45,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefit. Full-time, Permanent (hybrid).
