Finance Data Manager

I’m working with a large, complex organisation undergoing a significant Finance and Enterprise Assurance transformation to appoint a Data, MI & Assurance Manager.

Location: Birmingham (1 day in office)

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who combines strong Finance knowledge with Data, MI, Power BI and transformation experience.

The successful candidate will establish and develop the Data, MI & Assurance capability supporting a major Finance transformation programme. Initially focusing on Balance Sheet Assurance, the remit will expand across Financial Control, Governance, Risk & Control, SOX readiness and wider Finance Transformation.

• Lead the Data, MI and Analytics workstream for a major Balance Sheet Assurance programme.
• Develop executive-level dashboards, KPIs, scorecards and management reporting using Power BI.
• Provide insight into account ownership, reconciliation performance, aged items, exceptions, risks and outstanding actions.
• Develop finance data structures, reporting models and clear data ownership frameworks.
• Manage and improve General Ledger mapping across accounts, cost centres, profit centres, legal entities and reporting hierarchies.
• Establish data-quality measures, reporting controls and issue-resolution processes.
• Automate and standardise reporting processes to reduce manual activity and improve consistency.
• Analyse financial data and exceptions to identify risks, root causes and opportunities for improvement.
• Partner with senior stakeholders across Finance, Financial Control, Risk, Governance, SOX, Change, IT, ERP and Data.
• Lead and develop a Data & MI Analyst while remaining hands-on with complex reporting, analytics and transformation activity.

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or equivalent relevant Finance experience.
• Strong understanding of balance sheet accounting, financial reporting and General Ledger structures.
• Significant experience developing Finance MI, reporting, analytics, data models and management dashboards.
• Advanced Power BI skills, including building meaningful reporting and dashboards for senior stakeholders.
• Advanced Excel capability and experience working with large and complex financial datasets.
• Strong understanding of data quality, data ownership, reporting controls and governance.
• Experience improving Finance reporting through automation, standardisation and process improvement.
• Strong stakeholder-management skills gained within a large, complex or decentralised organisation.
• Experience leading a small team while remaining comfortable working hands-on with data and reporting.
• Exposure to SAP ECC/S4
  
  HANA, Alteryx, Black Line, SOX/ICFR, Finance Transformation or Risk & Control would be highly advantageous.
