University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an organised and highly accurate Accounts Assistant to join our Financial Accounts team.
Reporting to the Treasury Accountant, you will help deliver an efficient treasury service.
Key responsibilities include recording and allocating cash and cheque receipts, maintaining cash books, completing bank reconciliations, processing card payments, preparing weekly banking and petty cash, and identifying income and expenditure across bank accounts. You will also support other treasury functions when required.
- 1. To record all cheques/cash received onto cash sheets, issue receipts and cash allocation on ledgers
- 2. To collate cheque requisitions, ensuring adequate back up and authorisation
- 3. Reconciliations of cash book to bank statements for all bank accounts
- 4. Weekly preparation of petty cash for cashiers
- 5. Operate the Streamline debit card terminal and allocate payments received
- 6. Identify and allocate income/expenditure from the bank accounts
- 7. Maintenance of cash books
- 7. Preparation of the weekly banking
- 8. Cover of other treasury functions in the case of absence/holiday
You will have five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including Maths and English, ideally with experience in a finance or cashiering environment and an understanding of finance functions. You must be highly numerate, IT literate and confident using spreadsheets, with strong communication, problem-solving and organisational skills. The ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining excellent attention to detail is essential.
