Financial Analyst
An exceptional opportunity for a junior Graduate Business Analyst to shape the future of Financial Services in Birmingham.
Financial services firms are under constant pressure to modernise how they process data, assess risk and serve customers, and a lean, fast-moving startup in this space needs sharp analytical minds to keep pace. This is a young company building tools for the sector, not a legacy institution set in its ways. You'll join at a point where decisions get made quickly and the impact of your work shows up within weeks, not years.
Here’swhat you’ll be doing:
- Gather and translate business requirements from stakeholders across the Financial Services team into clear, actionable specifications
- Analyse operational data to spot trends, flag risks and recommend improvements to existing processes
- Build and maintain reports and dashboards that leadership actually uses to make decisions
- Support the rollout of new systems and processes, testing changes before they go live
- Work directly with product, engineering and compliance teams to make sure nothing falls through the cracks
- Document processes and workflows so the wider team can move fast without losing track of what's changed
- A degree in business, finance, economics, maths or a related discipline
- Strong Excel skills as a minimum, with an interest in learning SQL or data visualisation tools
- Sharp analytical thinking. You'll need to spot the pattern others miss
- Confident communication, written and verbal, since you'll present findings to people more senior than you
- A genuine curiosity about how Financial Services works, from regulation to customer behaviour
- Comfort with ambiguity. Startups don't hand you a manual
- Salary of £23,500 to £31,500, depending on experience
- Equity in a growing company, not just a payslip
- Flexible working hours around a core office day in Birmingham
- A dedicated learning and development budget to build your skills
- Office-based role with a flat structure, so your ideas reach decision-makers fast

Birmingham has become a genuine hub for this kind of work, with a growing cluster of finance and fintech employers outside London. Start as a Graduate Business Analyst here and the ceiling is high, from product to strategy to leadership roles within a few years.
