Adur & Worthing Councils are seeking two motivated and experienced Senior Environmental Health Officers to join and develop our Private Sector Housing Team based at Worthing Town Hall.
Adur and Worthing Councils are two distinct local authorities working together in partnership to deliver shared services. The private housing sector provides an important proportion of the housing stock and it is essential to ensure that the accommodation is safe and appropriate to meet the needs of local residents.
We are seeking 2 Environmental Health Officers who will carry out the full range of activities within the private sector housing discipline but each will be responsible for a specific area of work, leading a small team to deliver that function, with the support of the Private Sector Housing Manager.
Senior EHO (Standards and Compliance) will be responsible for coordinating our response to service requests and our mandatory HMO licensing scheme. Senior EHO (Assistance and Adaptations) will be the lead officer responsible for our housing grants service.
We are a busy and productive team. If you join us, you will regularly be making a positive impact on people's lives whether through advice, enforcement or grant funding.
Staff are our most important asset and we therefore have a benefit package which reflects our continuing commitment to our employees. This includes:
- Generous leave entitlement; a minimum of 25 days + Bank Holiday entitlement
- Local Government Pension
- Training & development
- Occupational Health
- Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
- Flexible working options
We are committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive community - a place where we can all be ourselves and succeed on merit. Staff work in a supportive and safe environment, recognising their responsibility to value and respect each other’s contributions. Standards of conduct must be of the highest level to ensure that no‑one is harassed, bullied or victimised. We offer a range of family friendly, inclusive employment policies, staff engagement forums and are keen to hear from applicants from a variety of different backgrounds.
