Assistant Housing Officer
Permanent position in Birmingham City Council's Housing Management service. Grade B salary £28,598 - £34,434 per annum. Full-time 36.5 hours per week. Working areas:
North & South of Birmingham (may operate citywide).
The role provides a proactive front‑line visiting service to tenants across local neighbourhoods.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct tenant visits within the community
- Manage and investigate housing‑related cases
- Provide advice, guidance, and signposting to appropriate services
- Refer cases to relevant third‑party organisations where needed
- Resolve housing management enquiries promptly using problem‑solving skills
Hybrid: home and office, with majority of time spent out in designated neighbourhoods.
Requirements- Ability to manage a varied workload and respond to different enquiries daily
- Strong problem‑solving and organisational skills
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Experience in housing or knowledge of relevant legislation is desirable
- Full training on systems, policies, and procedures will be provided
- A full driving licence is preferred but not essential
- Housing‑related experience is desirable
Grade B salary band, 36.5 hours per week, full training. Sponsorship not available; applicants must have right to work in the UK. Disclosure and Barring Service check will be undertaken. Applicants must provide proof of right to work in the UK.
