Counter Terrorism Policing is a collaboration of UK police forces working to keep people safe from terrorism.
At the regional level, West Midlands Police Counter Terrorism Unit (CTPWM) coordinates the counter terrorist response and provides specialist support to police forces in Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Mercia and the West Midlands.
You will work Monday to Friday, 0800 – 1600, however an element of flexibility is required outside of these hours to meet business needs.
The roleAs an Intelligence Officer on Investigations, you will receive, assess, develop and investigate new intelligence entering the CTU that impacts on Covert deployments. You will manage the Threat, Harm and Risk presented to the force and region, supporting the effective use of the National Decision Model (NDM).
You will be part of a flexible and professional workforce. You will work in a secure environment with a highly motivated team where personal and professional development is encouraged, this includes the ability to work with national agencies and to support the CT network when demand increases in response to a CT incident.
Your role will see you having a high degree of computer literacy; you will utilise a variety of computer systems and applications, including the core systems used by the CT Network, as well as digital data, applications and tools.
You will utilise your good communication skills by working effectively as part of a team and with colleagues across the national network, plus partners, providing an excellent intelligence response, based on a high level of customer focused service.
Responsibilities- Working with partner agencies to provide intelligence support to major covert investigations.
- Liaising with and point of contact for officers and regional partners in the development of new intelligence.
- Providing intelligence support when executive action (arrest phase) is taken.
- Single point of contact for the Senior Investigating Officer.
- Conducting intelligence briefings and debriefs where appropriate.
- Handling of covertly obtained material in accordance with identified policy and process.
- Preparation of RIPA applications.
- Working knowledge and understanding of intelligence practices, including MOPI and National Intelligence Model (NIM).
- Knowledge and understanding of Covert and Overt intelligence practices.
- Initiative and innovation while working as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work with limited supervision, prioritising work accordingly.
- Knowledge of CTU structures and practices.
- Knowledge of covert policing techniques and major investigations.
- Knowledge of police and CTU intelligence systems.
You may be exposed to material that may be of an obscene, offensive or distressing nature.
Security ClearanceThis post requires British nationality (some dual nationalities may be ineligible) and the successful completion of Developed Vetting. You will need to undergo additional security clearance checks, with the offer of employment being conditional on obtaining all of the necessary security clearances.
There are limitations on travelling to a small number of countries once in post.
