Job Overview
Applications are invited for a locum consultant paediatric anaesthetist post (12 months fixed term) in the Department of Anaesthesia at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Flexible working arrangements may be considered; discussions with the recruiting manager are encouraged.
Contract:
10 PA fixed‑term locum contract including 6 (possibly
7) clinical theatre sessions (7.5 PA) per week, with 1.5 PA per week for Supporting Professional Activity. No on‑call commitments initially. One evening theatre session may be required.
- Deliver anaesthesia for paediatric and neonatal cases across Birmingham Children’s Hospital and other sites covered under the Service Level Agreement.
- Participate in continuing professional development, teaching and training activities.
- Engage with Clinical Governance and contribute to clinical audit.
- Maintain knowledge of clinical protocols and safety standards.
- Specialist training and experience in paediatric and neonatal anaesthesia (UK or equivalent overseas).
- Minimum of 12 months experience in a paediatric anaesthesia role (including neonatal).
- Strong clinical leadership and effective communication skills.
Mental Health Division: The current Tier 4 mental health services may be transferred to Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust (CWPT). Successful candidates may, in the future, have their employment transferred to CWPT.
Safeguarding: As a Trust employee you must comply with safeguarding legislation and guidance for children and adults with care and support needs. Report any safeguarding concerns regarding your own or stepparents to the Head of Safeguarding.
Sponsorship: Visa sponsorship is only available for certain roles under current UKVI regulations. Ensure the role you are applying for meets the criteria for sponsorship.
