Role: Health & Safety Advisor (Groundworks & Infrastructure Civils)

Edge Careers is partnering with a well-established Groundworks Contractor to recruit an experienced Health & Safety Advisor. Due to continued growth and additional project wins, the business is expanding its team, offering opportunities for career progression.
We are seeking Health & Safety professionals with experience in the Construction sector. While a background in Groundworks & Civils is advantageous, it is not essential. The successful candidate will oversee multiple live projects across a regional patch (West Midlands/East Midlands) and will typically be site-based, traveling within approximately a 90-minute radius of Birmingham.
This role offers support from an experienced Health & Safety team, a company vehicle, and a fuel card. This is a direct PAYE position, and the salary is negotiable based on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support and guidance to senior management and colleagues on SHE matters.
- Attend pre-commencement meetings to contribute proactively to project planning.
- Advise the organization on statutory notices and compliance requirements.
- Prepare health and safety strategies and develop internal policies.
- Plan and conduct site visits and audits, including reporting and follow-up actions.
- Identify training needs and deliver on-site training, including toolbox talks.
- Investigate accidents and incidents thoroughly.
- Ensure company compliance with CDM regulations and other relevant legislation.
- Escalate serious breaches of company policy, procedures, or legislation to senior contacts.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the company.
Requirements:
- Proficient in First Aid techniques and emergency response protocols.
- Strong report writing skills, producing clear and concise documentation for internal and regulatory purposes.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to maintaining high health and safety standards.
- Relevant Health & Safety qualification (IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent).
- Previous experience as a Health & Safety Advisor.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to team and company strategy.
- IT literate.
- Full driving licence.
