We are delighted to be expanding our established nursing team within our friendly and forward thinking Neurodevelopmental Pathway, which includes Autism (ASD) assessment and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Services.

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and committed Nurses who will work closely with our Autism and ADHD teams to participate in safe and effective assessments for our Children, Young People and their families.

You will be expected to liaise with the wider system across health, education and social care to offer the best possible support to families of children with suspected ASD & ADHD.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of the neurodevelopmental pathway team aimed at improving the care of children with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD) across the city, both pre and post diagnosis.

The nurse led service will demand skills in child and family centred care, with experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside medical and other health, educational and voluntary services.

The post holder will be supervised by the ADHD Nursing
- Team Leader. This will maximise professional development and reflective practice and help in dealing with difficult issues that arise.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • Work closely with the members of the neurodevelopmental pathway team in developing, implementing, and monitoring services provided to children, young people and their families.
  • Be a key member of the ADHD multidisciplinary team, working collaboratively with Consultant Paediatricians and other health professionals.
  • Work autonomously across Birmingham, taking the lead in preliminary assessments of new referrals using the agreed assessment tools and analysis of the resulting information. Undertake and record observations within schools, clinics, and home settings.
  • To act as an Advanced Nurse Prescriber for ADHD related medicines, in line with NMC, NICE and national guidelines around safe prescribing.
  • Implement a family centred care approach, which captures the voice of the child and promotes involvement in the decision-making process.
