A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and self-motivated Physiotherapist to become a Team Leader within the Musculoskeletal Outpatient Physiotherapy service.

We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified, dynamic individual who is passionate about providing first class assessment and treatment to people with a variety of musculoskeletal disorders. Evidence of extensive experience of working in an Outpatient Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy environment is essential as well as having an understanding of operational service delivery needs. You should be able to demonstrate up to date knowledge and evidence of CPD in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and be prepared to contribute to our comprehensive IST programme.

Applicants will need to be able to balance an MSK clinical caseload at the same time as dealing with all aspects of day to day team management including sickness/annual leave monitoring, activity and performance monitoring and reporting.

Applicants should have a degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy and have current HCPC registration.

Main duties of the job

Alongside holding a clinical caseload you would be expected to provide first line leadership to the MSK staff to include day to day HR management, timetabling, performance monitoring as well as being involved in service redesign and supporting the clinical leads with risk and governance.

About us

You will usually be timetabled to work out of a maximum of two different clinics over your working week. We will take into account any requests to work in a certain geographical location, however you may be required to move base as service demands alter. Operating hours are from 7am to 8pm in some clinics across the city and there may be the opportunity for flexible working.

responsibilities

To provide a comprehensive Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy service for adult patients referred for assessment/treatment within the Trust. This will be delivered in Health Centres, GP surgeries and other community based facilities e.g. Leisure Centres.

To play an active part in the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Service providing team leadership and support; participating in service based initiatives and activities, including, the supervision, training, teaching and clinical management of junior staff, students and assistants.

To be highly trained in the identification and management of musculoskeletal problems

To act as an autonomous practitioner

Monitoring clinical supply and demand within a defined set of clinic locations and co-ordinating absence cover within those clinics to ensure safe and effective service provision.

To be involved in clinical mentorship, supervision and teaching of lower banded staff (Band 6 and 5 Physiotherapists and Band 4 and 3 Assistants). To be responsible for day to day risk assessment, clinic management and staff support to a defined set of clinic locations. To be involved with PDRs of lower banded clinicians.

To be a signatory for ESR management and Datix incident reporting within their defined Team of Clinicians

Person Specification Professional Qualifications
  • Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy. Registered with Health Professions Council
Skills and Knowledge
  • Evidence of up to date clinical practice/CPD
  • Experience of working in sole charge
  • Basic IT Skills including word processing and spreadsheets
  • Advanced communication skills written and verbal
Previous Experience
  • Experience of supervising junior staff and students
  • Extensive experience of working in Musculo-Skeletal out-patients setting with advanced manual therapy skills
  • Experience of Clinical Leadership
  • Experience of Working in NHS
