An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist to join newly commissioned ARFID pathway within NELFT CYP Eating Disorder Service, based at Orchards Health Centre.

The Eating Disorder service provides the latest in evidence based NICE compliant psychological interventions to clients and their families with an Eating Disorder. Unlike many other mental health services we offer specialist assessment and treatment across the life span from age 8yrs with no upper age limit. The team's multi-disciplinary approach to the assessment and treatment of individuals with an eating disorder is a real strength.

We welcome applications from psychology graduates who would like to develop their knowledge and skills and have a passion for working with people with eating disorders.

The successful applicant will be part of the core CAMHS eating disorder team. We are seeking an individual with the knowledge and skills to work as part of a multi-professional team and be innovative in their approach to supporting this client group. The role includes clinical, research and audit aspects.

The Role
As an Assistant Psychologist, you will play a key role in supporting the core CYP EDS team. Working closely with senior clinicians and the multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the delivery of psychological interventions, assessments, and treatment plans, ensuring that care is tailored to the individual needs of each young person and their family.

Undertake protocol-based psychological assessments under the supervision of senior clinicians, including the use of self-report measures, rating scales, structure.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver day-to-day patient care, administrative support, data entry.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with Trust policies.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to service improvement initiatives.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Undertake protocol-based psychological assessments under the supervision of senior clinicians, including the use of self-report measures, rating scales, structured observations, and interviews with clients and their families.
  • Assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans, involving psychological treatments and management strategies, under the guidance of senior clinicians and the multidisciplinary team.

Manage and analyse data from an ongoing programme of treatment outcome audits, contributing to the production of reports for the team and commissioners.

The post holder will be responsible for managing their workload under supervision, prioritising tasks effectively, and ensuring deadlines are met. They will be expected to work as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to high standards. The role may involve working across multiple sites and requires excellent communication and organisational skills.

Starting with NELFT NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.

The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High Cost Area Supplement – Outer London (B&D, Redbridge, Havering and Waltham Forest, CEME) This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,714 to a maximum of £5,941 p.a. pro rata for part time).
