Position: Specialist Physiotherapist |

Come and join one of the UK’s largest independent providers in neuro and mental healthcare. We proudly employ over 4000+ people – no matter what your experience, we have jobs for everyone.

Are you an experienced Physiotherapist with a passion for neurological rehabilitation and respiratory care?

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Physiotherapist to join our specialist multidisciplinary team in Birmingham on a part-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work with individuals living with complex neurological conditions and acquired brain injuries, delivering high-quality rehabilitation that makes a genuine difference to people’s lives.

Working across our inpatient and outpatient services, you will support clients with a range of complex physical, neurological and respiratory needs, including individuals requiring tracheostomy management and chest physiotherapy. You will be part of a highly experienced MDT, contributing to personalised rehabilitation programmes that maximise independence, function and quality of life.

As part of our continued investment in neurorehabilitation, our service is developing a brand-new, purpose-built therapy gym designed to support innovative and intensive rehabilitation. The new facility will incorporate advanced rehabilitation technology, robotics and specialist treatment spaces, providing therapists with access to cutting-edge tools including robotic-assisted therapy systems such as the Luna EMG Premium and Exo Motus M4. These technologies complement — rather than replace — expert clinical skills, enabling therapists to deliver intensive, goal-focused rehabilitation and achieve meaningful outcomes for the people we support.

This role would particularly suit a Physiotherapist currently working in neurorehabilitation, respiratory care, stroke rehabilitation, major trauma, spinal injury, or complex community rehabilitation who is looking for a part-time opportunity within a specialist service and the chance to be part of an exciting period of transformation.

The role:

Our standard working hours are 18.75 hours per week, offering a 2.5 day working pattern that provides genuine flexibility for individuals with other professional, academic, or personal commitments. This opportunity allows you to apply and further develop your neurorehabilitation expertise within a supportive specialist team, while maintaining the flexibility to pursue interests in other clinical areas or commitments outside of work.

As part of our transition to Active Neuro, the therapy service is evolving into a seven-day model of care to better support the rehabilitation needs of our clients. As a result, occasional pre‑arranged weekend working will be required. You will also be expected to work Bank Holidays as required by the service, with enhanced pay provided in line with company policy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver a high-quality physiotherapy service as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Carry out specialist assessments independently for clients with complex neurological conditions.
  • Develop personalised problem lists, treatment plans, and rehabilitation goals.
  • Complete complex respiratory assessments and treatment sessions.
  • Design and implement 24-hour postural management programmes, including specialist seating, positioning, and splinting.
  • Assess and manage increased muscle tone and spasticity.
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and support to therapy assistants and student physiotherapists.
  • Contribute to the teaching and education of relatives, carers, and MDT colleagues.
  • Actively engage in multidisciplinary team meetings, offering feedback and collaborative input.
  • Produce detailed, comprehensive review reports for patients, families, and commissioners.
  • Foster effective collaboration and communication within the MDT.
  • Safeguard individuals from harm and uphold their human rights.
About you:

For this role, you’ll need:

  • HCPC registration.
  • Post-qualification experience in neurorehabilitation or complex care (including ABI/TBI).
  • Experience and competence in respiratory care, including assessment, chest management, and rehabilitation for clients with complex needs such as tracheostomies.
  • Well-develope…
