Job Description & How to Apply Below
We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative Physiotherapist that enjoys problem solving.
We need an experienced therapist to join our Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) & SDEC (Same Day Emergency Care) therapy team as a Team Lead. We have a rare opportunity for you to develop both yourself and a service as the only true MAU service within University Hospitals Birmingham NHS foundation trust.
For this role we need you to be able to assess and problem solve often complex discharges for a wide range of patients with differing presentations. Your input not only benefits the patient you are seeing but supports the flow of the whole of Heartland Hospitals patient flow and therefore supporting other patients and their community.
Our team has only been running for 2 years and therefore you will get the opportunity to develop the staff already in the team, new and rotational staff, but also establish service improvement projects to maximise the potential of the service provided and its effect.
You will work within an experienced therapy team supporting the wider Multidisciplinary team. Under the supervision of a Clinical team lead you will manage and inspire a group of qualified and non-qualified staff to deliver this highly regarded service.
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact Karen Cunningham (clinical team lead therapist) on or email Karen.cunningham.ukMain duties of the jobFor this job you will need experience of working in a fast-paced acute ward setting managing a caseload and an understanding the impact this has on the patient flow of a large hospital. You will need to use skills from a variety of specialities including, respiratory, Neuro and Trauma & orthopaedics.
You will need to complete complex assessments on patients presenting with a variety of conditions and co morbidities to establish safe and timely discharge plans. Using this information, you will then need to use your understanding of different discharge principles focussing on home first to implement the plan for the patient.
We need you to have experience of supervising people as this role will include the supervision of both qualified and non-qualified staff, to maximise their learning potential and collectively complete service improvement projects.
You will be given regular supervision by the Clinical Team lead to allow you to develop your own clinical skills, engage in leadership training to meet your needs and progress your understanding of managerial jobs.
This role is part of a seven day service and if you are a Physiotherapist you will also need to have experience of working in a respiratory On-call capacity.
About us University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust strives to have an inclusive culture where everyone feels like they belong, can thrive, knows that they add value and feels valued. We do this by developing compassionate and culturally competent leaders, being values driven in all that we do and by creating a welcoming and inclusive workplace that thrives on the diversity of our people.
As such we want to attract and recruit talented individuals from all backgrounds, and for each of you to feel supported for the diversity you bring, to achieve your full potential. For those staff with a disability, including physical disability, long term health condition, mental health or neurodiverse condition, this also means being committed to making reasonable adjustments needed for you to carry out your role.
